Armed conflicts are back in full force in 2023. The largest ever battle between Hamas and Israel exploded at the same time with the continuous worst ever since World War II aggression by Russia against a peaceful and voluntarily disarmed neighbor – Ukraine. Both conflicts are marred with horrific war crimes producing enormous civilian suffering. All these demand a re-imagination of the relevance of international law and its institutions.

Jindal Society of International Law invites you to attend a Special Lecture "The Law of Armed Conflict: Israel-Hamas and Russia-Ukraine” by Vesselin Popovski, Professor and Vice Dean, Jindal Global Law School, on October 26th, 2023 from 04:30 PM in T3- F59 Hall.

Prof. (Dr.) Vesselin Popovski is Founding Executive Director of Centre for Study of the United Nations, and co-initiator of “The Second Charter”, an academic project to review and re-write the existing obsolete UN Charter. Before coming to India, he worked for the UN University, Tokyo (2004-2014), for the EU Delegation in Russia (2002-2004), King’s College London and University of Exeter (1996-2002). Edited and authored over 20 books on international law, peace and security, human rights.
